Itinerary Connemara's Calling

The dates and itinerary for 2011 have yet to be finalised. As a guide the itinerary for 2010 is shown below.
| Day 1 | Meet in Galway city 8.30 am. Drive up to Northern Mayo via Cong, Ballinrobe, Castlebar, to Crossmalina. Lunch at The Hungry Monk/drive through Ashford Castle grounds. Visit National Museum of Country Life in Castlebar Settle into our accommodation at Enniscoe House Apartments. Gourmet meal at home. |
| Day 2 | Full day archaeological/natural history field trip with Prof. Seamas Caulfield Visit Céide Fields (most extensive Neolithic site in the world) Possible further activities: Killala Round Tower and historic village North Mayo Sculpture Trail |
| Day 3 | First full day guided walking : Northern Mayo. Cliff tops walk Dinner at home. Ballina Salmon and Heritage Festival |
| Day 4 | Guided walk Nephin Beg Range Evening drive to Achill Island. |
| Day 5 | Full day guided hill walking on Achill with Gerard Mangan Seafood dinner out. Traditional Music in local Achill pub. |
| Day 6 | Half day guided walking on Achill. Possible Activities: Deserted village of Slievemore 16th Century Kildavnet Tower – home of ‘Pirate Queen’: Granuaille |
| Day 7 | Drive to Connemara Lunch out in Westport. Half day guided walk Killary Bay, Visit Granuaille Interpretive Centre. Settle in to accommodation in Letterfrack. |
| Day 8 | Ferry to Inisbofin Day guided walking on island of Inisbofin. |
| Day 9 | Day archaeological field trip with renowned archaeologist: Michael Gibbons in the beautiful Delphi Valley Night at Angler’s Return in Roundstone Roundstone Pub visit. |
| Day 10 | Half day walking in Roundstone Bogland and Dog’s Bay Scenic drive via Kylemore Abbey to Galway via Lough Inagh by 6 pm and farewells. |
